Yesterday I took the opportunity to snap some long overdue evolution shots of my HWDC2 contest jeans, the Iron Heart Mega Beatle Buster samples. The jeans have now had an effective wear of around 16 months in rotation and this was their fifth wash, which would not have been required if not for an unfortunate incident with a can of baked beans (not sexual honestly).
Yesterday was a super lazy day for me, so excuse the sloppy fit, but these are the jeans which I generally wear to work all week most weeks.
For heavy denim (25oz) it has fantastic vertical fading potential, leaving the jeans with long blended streaks of white and pale blue.
As a guy who spends much of my working life sat down the one fade I can just about perfect is lap fades. Also, I know that people endlessly debate whether phone fades are ugly or not, my stance is that if you intentionally move where you would normally keep your phone to avoid a fade pattern on your jeans then you are thinking about this too much.
My hem show some roping through being worn for a while without being cuffed, but as they have been cuffed for the majority of the time there is some severe wear to the denim in this area which I will have to get repaired pretty soon.
Like I said, as a guy who spends much time sat down I never seem to develop spectacular combs on the back of my knees. This doesn’t bother me too much as I think a persons jeans should reflect their wear and not some prescribed or accepted pattern which will draw applause from the majority. It’s that kind of thinking that put the music industry in the hands of teenage girls ha ha.
From here on in and for the remainder of the HWDC2 I’m going to carry on wearing these jeans for all work days, plus anything that might involve some physical labour. I never have any visions of winning a contest (and it would look pretty suspicious if I did to be fair), but I’m quite happy with the progress so far and I hope to be able to carry on wearing these jeans for quite some time after the HWDC2 as they sure can take one hell of a beating.
